About the Conference

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using the information), reasoning (using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has revolutionized various aspects of human life, from literacy to education, and healthcare to transportation and beyond. However, with these advancements come a plethora of legal and ethical challenges that need to be addressed to ensure responsible and equitable use of AI globally. This Seminar aims to explore and bridge the legal and ethical emerging issues in the digital era concerning AI.

AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics, are increasingly integrated into various sectors, impacting socio-legal norms, economic structures, and governance frameworks. As AI systems become more autonomous and pervasive, concerns regarding privacy, bias, accountability, transparency, and human rights have gained prominence. The need for robust legal and ethical frameworks to govern AI development, deployment, and use is paramount to mitigate potential risks and foster trust.

The ancient history of artificial intelligence (AI) traces back to ancient civilizations like Egypt, Greece, and China, where myths and tales depicted human-like automatons and mechanical devices capable of performing tasks. For instance, in Greek mythology, Hephaestus crafted automatons like Talos, a giant bronze guardian, while in China, there are tales of mechanical men created by Yan Shi during the Warring States period. However, the modern concept of AI emerged in the mid-20th century with the development of electronic computers and the formulation of the Turing Test by Alan Turing in 1950, laying the foundation for the field of artificial intelligence as we know it today.

In this AI-related seminar, attendees will typically be discussing the nexus of AI and emerging issues related to laws and ethics. This can include presentations on cutting-edge research, real-world case studies, and discussions on ethical considerations, with academicians, scholars, researchers, and professionals in the field of law.

Call for Papers

In this background we are calling and requesting legal scholars, academia, professionals, and administrators for their participation in the national seminar. The sub-themes for the national seminar includes:-

Cybersecurity, Data Protection and AI: Cybersecurity involves protecting systems, networks, and data from digital attacks. Data protection ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. AI in this context refers to the use of artificial intelligence to enhance cybersecurity measures, such as threat detection and response.

Legal Implication and AI: The legal implications of AI include issues such as liability for AI-generated actions, data privacy concerns,  and intellectual property rights. Regulations are evolving to address these challenges, but there’s still a need for frameworks to ensure ethical and responsible AI development and deployment.

Legal and Ethical Considerations: Legal and ethical considerations involve following laws, regulations, and moral principles to ensure fairness, transparency, and respect for individuals’ rights and well-being.

Jurisdictional Challenges and Cross-Border Data Flows: A jurisdictional challenge is a legal dispute over authority, while cross-border data flow refers to data moving between countries. When these collide, it’s about who has control over data that crosses borders, often due to conflicting laws and regulations.

Awareness and Education Initiatives and AI: Education and Awareness are key tools to access justice, which is a prominent mandate of the Indian Constitution. AI can play a vital role in promoting awareness among the masses and educating them to be able to understand their basic rights and duties that are basic of any civilized nation.
