Haq Charcha “Masculinity, Interrupted: Building Male Allyship”

About Her Haq

Her Haq is a not-for-profit organisation that works towards gender equality and women empowerment.

About the Event

Haq Charcha is the flagship dialogue series of Her Haq, which is a series of public conversations on women’s rights, agency and the inequalities that still persist in our society.

It brings together voices that matter – of leaders and changemakers—for dialogue on realities that reshape our lives and changes we still need.

This edition, titled Masculinity Interrupted: Building Male Allyship- a dialogue about challenging conventional notions of masculinity and creating allies, of moving towards change, shoulder to shoulder, as equals.

Concept Note

Throughout history, the movement for gender equality has been led by women and has also been envisioned as a foundational goal of our Constitution, championed fiercely by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

As one of the chief architects of our democracy, he believed that true freedom cannot exist without social and gender justice.

However, decades later, this ideal remains far from realised. It has become imperative to realise that change can only happen with the meaningful engagement of men.

Across different sectors, spaces and communities, men have the potential to stimulate change, not just by supporting but by understanding it.

Hon’ble MP Shri. Pushpendra Saroj, the youngest Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha and Shri. Anish Gawande, writer and curator, the National Spokesperson of NCP-SP and the founder of Pink List India.
